“The depth of our love was immeasurable

“The depth of our love was immeasurable. It was the kind of love that stories were built on. The kind that, if bottled, would solve world peace, cure disease, and most likely overpopulate the earth.”

What an amazing follow up to Wait For Me. Stay With Me picks up right where the last book left off. Cooper and Briley are finally together and are enjoying their new relationship status. However, when a part of Briley’s past comes to light, it will take Cooper and Briley on a journey that no one expected. Will the love the two of them have be strong enough to get them past the dangerous road that lies ahead?

All I can say right now is just WOW! I am blown away! Stay With Me was such an amazing read. I was hooked from the first page and found myself consumed with Cooper and Briley. The love that they had for each other was real and strong. It captivated me. I admired their strength and devotion; the way they supported and protected one another. I felt such a connection to them. I couldn’t get enough of their story. I didn’t want to put this book down.

Stay With Me was not only a great romance, but it also had it’s fair share of twists and turns. And let me tell you, these twists…..I am just floored. This book went into a totally different direction than what I was expecting. I was so surprised and I kept thinking to myself: I did not see this coming. I would have never guessed this would be happening in a million years. It had me holding my breath just waiting to see how everything would play out. And in the end, I thought to myself: Bravo! Well done!

I loved every second of this story from start to finish. Stay With Me gave me the best possible ending to this series. It took me on one heck of an emotional journey. I laughed, held my breath, had tears brought to my eyes and I swooned all at the same time. These characters are amazing and their story will capture your heart, just like it did mine.

I love this book, so much!

Okay, Wait for Me is the first book in the series. If you have read the first book in this series, you have to read the second (Stay With Me). If you haven't read either, you should really get on that! In Wait for Me, we met Briley and Cooper. They have always been best friends since they were little kids. Cooper goes away to prison and when he gets out all of their feelings for each other finally come to light.

Going into Stay With Me I thought this book would be about their happily ever after since they finally come together at the end of Wait for Me. Only the story was so much more than what I expected. Of course Briley and Cooper's life can't always be butterflies and unicorns. Briley's past holds a secret that has been kept from her to keep her safe. Briley can't ignore the feeling that something is not right. Cooper, the protector that he is, investigates and discovers dangerous information...

Stay With Me kept me on the edge of my seat. I did not want to put it down. There were so many twists and turns I didn't see coming. I love this author, her writing style, and this couple. Sequels are hard live up to the quality of the first book and, in my opinion, Stay with Me surpassed Wait for Me. Stay with Me is my favorite book of the series, but Wait for Me has my favorite cover. Cooper is still my favorite book boyfriend

Why learn One language at a time?

As a former student of Professor Watkins' outstanding class in Indo-European, I can appreciate the importance of a work such as this dictionary.
By studying the dictionary, and the essays that accompany it, the reader can begin to learn a host of languages simultaneously. There are laws of language change that effect all the Indo-European languages, and learning these will enable the reader to gain insights and understanding of all of the related languages -- without having to study each separately.

For a primer on the subject, I would suggest looking at the condensed version at the end of your American Heritage dictionary. There, you will also find some of Professor Watkins' illustrative essays.

The American Heritage Dictionary of Indo-European Roots is a great addition to any serious reference library.

A True Treasure

There are few LGBT History Books out there – and I have read quite a few of them – that are more heart-warming and charming. For one thing, the compactness of this little book makes it unique; yet, even though everything here is obviously condensed and reduced to a few examples taken from 9,000 BC to the present day, you never feel the story being told is superficial or in any way lacking. What I personally really loved is the fact that it’s the British Museum London that issued this book as a sort of catalogue for their visitors, guiding them to the “gay” goodies in their collection. I wish all museums in the world would highlight the LGBT pieces in their collection like this – and make them interesting and attractive for all (!) visitors of the museum, demonstrating that the story of same-sex desire is a part of the general history of mankind. Curator R. B. Parkinson has written a beautiful intro: balanced, clear, straightforward (if that’s the right word here), and an ideal outline of what LGBT History is, and what it isn’t. The artifacts themselves that are shown in this book, and briefly described with regard to their relevance to LGBT History, are amazing. I found the self-sucking Egyptian gods (950 BC) and the “Warren Cup” (Palestine, 10 AD) especially thrilling, also the broadsheet on executing sodomites in the Netherlands, 1730. But it’s the mix – Egypt, Ancient Rome, Middle Ages, India, Asia, modern day movies and items – that truly set the tone. The story of “straight ally” John Wolfenden at the end of it is special, and makes for a great finale. In terms of museum programs this must be a ground breaker and a positive example that hopefully many others around the world will follow soon.

Little Can Be Good

If you are well read , aware of history and the arts , this may be pleasant diversion-- but brief. This is a book to give to a non gay friend who would appreciate or need a touch of education on same sex love. It is dipping one's toes in calm waters giving one a smile .If you are an academic in the realm of GLBT history ,you may feel a bit drowsy and learn little . So much is relative in this case--- a little may be good for Mother or Aunt ; for the more sophisticated, one might long for bigger guns to be fired into the depths of history.

About the Author
Andreas Moritz is a medical intuitive; a practitioner of Ayurveda, Iridology, Shiatsu and Vibrational Medicine; a writer and an artist. Born in Southwest Germany in 1954, Andreas had to deal with several severe illnesses from an early age, which compelled him to study diet, nutrition and various methods of natural healing while still a child. By the age of 20 Andreas had completed his training in Iridology - the diagnostic science of eye interpretation - and Dietetics. In 1981 he began studying Ayurvedic Medicine in India and completed his training as a qualified practitioner of Ayurveda in New Zealand in 1991. Since 1988, he has been practicing the Japanese healing art of Shiatsu, which has given him profound insights into the energy system of the body. In addition, he devoted eight years of active research into consciousness and its important role in the field of mind/body medicine. This book will change your life!!!! It rewires your brain not to judge yourself or others!!! It teaches you the importance of accepting everything that happens in life and believing that every moment is a divine moment. It helps you release emotional trauma and gets you closer to your spirit so that you can always be happy and truly love everyone around you including yourself.

It is a great book and fun to read

The way Amazon denotes which edition something is, is with a small 'e.' To me, that meant either electron or internet edition. So, I bought it.
There is NO internet link to this book for those of us with arthritis. It is a great book and fun to read, but, I'd love to have something like

Good. But not what I expected.

I have loved all of Jaide Fox's novels and am an avid fan. I was initially excited to see another Alien book coming out but was a little disappointed with this one. The first few chapters were great. The new female characters,three this time, and their predicament. The story line was good too but then it dropped. Like it was being rushed to the end. I thought the main character Jasmine was spicy and tough but what happened toward the end of the book had me wondering if I knew Jasmine at all. I found that I liked the secondary character, Samara, better.

This book felt like it ended too soon and left me unsatisfied. Was it supposed to? I felt that it just stopped, the story tied up neatly with it's happily ever after.

There is an epilogue that has stirred my curiosity all over again about this series and the next one will probably be better that this one. I still love the author and will continue to buy her books. This one just wasn't one of my favorites.

A well-written indie interracial science fiction romance novel

This book deserves 3 stars as a well-written indie interracial science fiction romance novel (what a mouthful)! The series (read the other two Captured by Aliens novels ... which are not as good as this one) is steamy and the heroines (for the most part) are gutsy and smart. Fox is great at telling you stories and reeling you in like a fish through each page. This series has definitely captured my attention and it was hard waiting for this novel to hit the shelves. If you want something to make you laugh a little and suck in your breath at the love scenes, then this quick read is for you. Do I wish it had a little bit more adventure? Yes, but I'm a reader that loves lots and lots of adventure with her alien abduction love stories.

I must add that I initially gave this book 4 stars ... because I loved the story idea and writing style. I had to revise that rating based on my thoughts on some of the ideas spattered throughout the writing. During the alien "assimilation" a black female abductee indicates that she thinks they have a good thing with the aliens -- they're handsome, tall and huge. She tells her cousin that she should re-think trying to escape -- arguing that this is the best they are going to get because look at the percentage of African-American women unable to get married in the U.S?? Huh? Really? A WTF moment for me. There are several other statements made throughout the book that had me shaking my head. Did it detract from the story? Yeah, a little. I'm still a Fox fan, but can't understand some of the sentiments she expressed through her characters.

Jaide has done it again!

I received an ARC for leaving an honest review of this release. When I began reading, the story line was so familiar that I had to check my Kindle to see if I had previously read this story. After checking with no luck, I then checked my book collection and came across Alien’s Captive book 1 in the series. I reread that book and started reading Alien Intent. I loved the smoking hot chemistry between Jasmine & Dar and some of their antics were actually laugh out loud funny. Jasmine was doomed from the beginning, what’s not to love about a big strong sexy man in uniform. My only problem was, not knowing if Jasmine was pregnant but I guess that will have to wait until the next installment. Although this book is a standalone, I would definitely suggest you read Alien’s Captive, Adrienne’s & Ebony’s story that started it all.

Even in his own day, the famed 13th-century travel writer Marco Polo was mocked as a purveyor of tall tales—gem-encrusted clothes, nude temple dancing girls, screaming tarantulas—in his narrative of his journey to the Chinese court of the Mongol emperor Kublai Khan. In this engrossing biography, Bergreen (James Agee: A Life), while allowing that mere facts... were never enough for Marco, finds him a roughly accurate and perceptive witness (aside from the romantic embellishments and outright fabrications concocted with his collaborator Rustichello of Pisa) who painted an influential and unusually sympathetic portrait of the much-feared Mongols. Bergreen follows Polo's disjointed commentary on everything from Chinese tax policy to asbestos manufacturing, crocodile hunting and Asian sexual mores—Polo was especially taken with the practice of sharing one's wife with passing travelers—while deftly glossing it with scholarship. Less convincing is Bergreen's attempt to add depth to Polo's lurid taste and over-heated imagination by portraying him as both a prophet of globalization and a pilgrim and explorer of the spirit. Polo's spiritual trek didn't take him very far, since he ended his days back in Venice as a greedy, litigious merchant. Part biography, part travelogue, and part scholarly analysis, the book offers a glimpse of an exotic Asia that few knew at the time—and that Bergreen, with his rich research and stories, mostly corroborates. Bergreen posits Polo as an early promoter of globalization, an open-minded traveler who adopted some of Kublai Khan’s philosophies and carried them back to Europe. If Bergreen sometimes succumbs to speculation (Polo’s egotism is well recorded, though his time in China is not), Marco Polo will immortalize the famed traveler—again.

Travelog Without Maps

For a book targeting the journeys of the famous Venetian merchant traveler, I am mystified by the absence of maps. One reading this book must make an extra effort to procure maps from other sources, a major inconvenience. Unless a map of the areas Bergreen described are reviewed, one will have no idea of the magnitude and tribulations of the trek to Cathay. Where are the steppes of thin atmosphere (where no birds travel); what is the desert he crosses on his way to Shengdu; where is Cambulac; and most importantly, where is Quinsai? The absence of maps is so upsetting as to make the remainder of the material lackluster. If I were his history and geography professor at Harvard and this was a thesis Bergreen submitted, he would have gotten a big fat "F." I don't understand such a mistake in publication. Where were the editors? His book on Columbus, at least, does have adequate maps. Too bad for this otherwise interesting story.

Epic life, well told.
I've read the author's other work and I appreciate that he is clear which portions are well-supported and which are speculative. Some other books rely only on well-documented facts and others delve into speculation without revealing the shaky ground beneath. This book (and his others) get it right.
There was a lot in this book that surprised me.
My one and only suggestion is for a bigger, clearer map with more locations marked on it. Even though the travel path is not exactly known, it would have helped me stay in the story.

this book seems as long as Polo's adventures

This book basically tells us that Marco Polo was a sycophant liar who may start with the truth but then embellish and elaborate to entertain and prop himself up. It's an odd thing. I have a friend who was in the Army and has traveled all over America with great stories, so you would think he doesn't need to make stuff up but he does. In fact, when he relays a story about something that actually happened, he struggles, but when he relays a story that's made up, he's a great storyteller. That's how I know he's lying. We're the opposite. It was just a long book and slow read.

With Martha Stewart's Hors d'Oeuvres Handbook, Stewart, along with Martha Stewart Living food editor Susan Spungen and photographer Dana Gallagher, has created not just a handbook but a dream book. The first 225 pages consist entirely of beautifully photographed, exquisite nibbles, tastes, and bites--and the following 270 pages give you the recipes and instructions to re-create them at home. Pink and orange ribbons bound into the book allow you to easily mark photos and recipes. Only Martha and her staff would come up with something so beautiful and practical.

You can browse the photos for inspiration, or dive right into one of the chapters, all organized by presentation, such as "Layered and Stacked"; "Wrapped, Rolled, Filled, Folded and Stuffed"; "Skewered and Threaded"; "Bites and Pieces"; and "Sips and Drinks," just to name a few. Having a few friends over for cocktails before the show? How about Crispy Asparagus Straws, a delicious combo of asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and phyllo and sprinkled with Parmesan? The sophisticated flavors belie the ease of preparation. Have a little more time to prepare? The Jicama and Green Papaya Summer Rolls with Peanut Dipping Sauce are tasty and beautiful.

As gorgeous as this cookbook is, don't dismiss it as coffee-table cooking--several helpful photos show technique as well as finished product, and Martha's tips and notes are sprinkled throughout the text. For example, a lengthy sidebar on purchasing and preparing shrimp shares how to buy shrimp (the high quality of flash-frozen shrimp these days makes it perfectly acceptable), how to cook it (use kosher salt in your cooking water), and how best to peel and devein the little treasures. Similarly, reading the note on preparing phyllo will encourage even a novice cook to try her hand at Phyllo Triangles with Feta and Spinach or Curried Walnut Chicken. In her second book on the subject (after Martha Stewart's Hors d'Oeuvres: The Creation & Presentation of Fabulous Finger Food, 1984), Stewart seems to have enjoyed the collaboration. This is a wonderfully produced compendium, with exhaustively detailed recipes to suit a wide range of palates, budgets and culinary skills (though not intended for neophyte cooks). Following the introduction are more than 300 color photographs (not seen by PW), cross-referenced to the recipes in the book's second half. The first chapter, "Building Blocks for the Best Hors d'Oeuvres," includes Stewart's typically painstaking instructions for making such foundations as Pattypan Squash Cups, Miniature Flour Tortillas and Green Tea Crepes. The next five chapters are organized by type: "Layered and Stacked" offers pizza variations and imaginative terrines; "Skewered and Threaded" has Moroccan Salmon Skewers and Figs in a Blanket; "Bites and Pieces" features Classic Crab Cakes and a section on marinated olives. "Classics" contains previously published recipes, including Phyllo Triangles with Wild Mushrooms. Throughout, helpful sidebars discuss such topics as dumpling wrappers (paper-thin sheets of dough); selecting, preparing and serving oysters; or the best hors d'oeuvres to bring to a potluck party. Advice on party planning, menus, lists of suppliers and an index top off this well-stuffed volume.

Stewart's ambitious new book will no doubt be an "instant classic." Good hors d'oeuvres books are not easy to find, and presentation and entertaining are Martha's specialty; her earlier Hors d'Oeuvres (1984) remains an enduring best seller. The recipes in this collection reflect contemporary influences from a wide variety of cuisines, although there is a chapter of "classics"Along-time favorites from earlier books. This handbook is divided into two main sections: first, the photographs, of which there are more than 300, with every recipe shown in full color, and then over 350 recipes. There are "Layered and Stacked" hors d'oeuvres, tea sandwiches and canap?s, "Skewered and Threaded" tidbits, and dozens of dips, spreads, and salsas, along with cocktails and drinks, a whole section on cheese, and more. These are followed by a smaller section called "The Guide," with menus, party-planning ideas, and glossaries of ingredients and equipment. Some of the recipes are demanding indeed, but others really are not, and the variety is amazing. Essential.

Martha Stewart's Hors D'oeuvres handbook

I have used this book several times, made me want to have a party to try out these wonderful recipes. Full-color photos which show you what the food is supposed to look like; and well labeled -- telling you what page the recipe is on. Such creative ideas for snacks and treats, "why didn't I think of that?". Recipes are well detailed, easy to follow, good print (making it easy to read) with special notes on pages telling you where to get "hard to find items" and techniques explained. I think this book is not necessarily for beginners, but, those who love to cook and love to take time and pride in their cooking. Everytime I have made something from this cook book I get "waves of praise". The back of the book has "the Guide" which gives additional information from planning a party to taking Horsd'Oeuvre to a party. Equipment and ingredients are explained, as well as, a source list. I recommend this book to anyone, again, who loves to cook. It is right up there with the other Martha Stewart cookbooks, great!

Wonderful resource

I'm a 23-year-old graduate student. My mother bought this book perhaps 8 years ago. Since I moved away from home to go to college, I have called her for recipes so many times I have a pretty good fraction of this book photocopied in a binder. I am young and certainly not a professional cook, and all of the recipes I have prepared came out looking and tasting great. My favorite recipe is Icebox Crackers, page 365 (Serve them warm with goat cheese! Always a crowd favorite at parties). Some recipes are somewhat time consuming, but I wouldn't say they are extremely difficult. I did have to skip the ones that call for bizarre kitchen items and ingredients, unfortunately. But there are so many recipes, including many that are clever and relatively simple, that this has not been a big problem. Overall, this is a wonderful cookbook.
